Any kind of haziness would further contribute to their miscommunications, wouldn't it? Surely, Ben realized the importance of remembering this conversation when he woke up.

However, Melody could tell by the look on his face that walking away now wasn't an option. Not if their marriage was to ever produce anything vaguely positive. With that in mind, she sat opposite him and folded her hands neatly in her lap. "Because I overheard a conversation that would have ruined me days before my marriage and committed a felony by drugging you against your will." She then answered bluntly, although her tone was obviously remorseful. "And there's not been a day since then that I haven't regretted it."
