Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

M/UCAB | REP 4+ | AUCTION

What: Magical Miscellany Auction
Who: An importer is hosting; open to anyone of moderate repute who has money to buy things.
Cost: Not for entry, but to buy things, obviously yes. Some items may go for MC-reasonable prices but all will be too expensive for WC folks, and if you seem like you obviously can't afford to buy anything you'll probably get the stink-eye
Where: Hogsmeade Hall
Why: because I want one
When: January 15 & 16

For two days Hogsmeade Hall will play host to all manner of obscure magical artifacts. On Saturday from 9AM to noon, wares will be on display for a silent auction, while a live auction will take place from noon to 2PM. Sunday's auction will primarily consist of whatever wasn't sold on Saturday, but also includes a few ~big ticket items that were not available the day before to lure people back. Sunday's live auction runs from noon to 2PM. During the live auction there are breaks every 30 minutes or so for people to walk around and peruse their catalogs and converse.

Items up for auction (also feel free to make up your own, these are just ideas):
- a grandfather clock whose labels read things like "soon" "imminently" "in the distant future" etc instead of numbers, and which has five hands which are customizable based on what you put in the clock (for example, buy a wedding ring and place it in a compartment to get predictions on when you'll marry; use graveyard dirt for your demise; etc)
- opera glasses which reveal auras around people based on their current emotional state
- gloves which emit a soft glow of light, ideal for reading or doing craftwork in the evening
- minor invisibility cloaks (last about 48 hours of use before spells fade)
- fabric that changes color on demand
- lullaby book- a book of stories and songs which, when read aloud, put any listener to sleep within 5 minutes
- necklace of charisma - makes you slightly more persuasive while you wear it, effects fade after some amount of use
