I would also bet that early in her debutanting Maddie would probably have tagged along with her, especially since she was another trades persons child and they would have known each other from the high street. 

I also have Elizabeth Cardew, who is MCHB and who works but is also at the sanditon on a regular basis.  Her aunts take lizzy and her sister as companions when they go to the sanditon.

I think she would have gotten along well enough with Maddie! But Victoria's family's shop is in Diagon Alley, not High Street so they wouldn't have known each other from there.

If Elizabeth is as severe as you keep saying she is, I don't think Victoria would care much to be in her company but would be friendly. Because she's friendly with everyone!

Maddie's sisters shop is in diagon alley, so maybe a vague knowledge of each other in school, then some debbing and now better acquainted now that Maddie's sis has a pastry shop nearby


Lizzy isn't 'mean' or anything, its more that she takes herself very seriously, and doesnt have much respect for stupid people - or worse women who pretend they are stupid. and it can come off as intense or severe but she has more respect for working women than she does for debutantes or coquettes.
