Shit, it was her. She looked just as surprised to see him as her head popped up through the crack of the door. What was she doing here? Had she also been on the boat—and if so, how had he managed to avoid miss her all these days? But then it dawned on him that she was probably on rescue duty; she was not a woman of means and likely had not been able to afford a ticket, but had always been the useful sort and likely found employment that had her doing this sort of thing. Or maybe it was just sheer dumb luck that she'd came knocking on his door. He wasn't about to question the universe's ways.
