In truth it was not his house, but Valerian's life that was always too busy; between the hospital and whatever work was relegated to him by his mother when he returned home, there was rarely any time to sit down and just think. The Inverness home was large enough to find a quiet corner, especially with his youngest brother at school and the other two slaving away at their Ministry work desks, but not large enough to escape the nagging thought that there was something he could have been doing with his time instead.
