One moment she was screaming and the next she could no longer speak. It took her a couple of seconds to realize what had happened. The truth was that her screaming had been so high previously, that she would have lost her voice at some point either way.

She was still furious and her father had taken away her only way of letting off steam. She saw an opportunity in him having released her from his grip and sprinted away down the street. She fell on a woman who had been walking but that didn't deter her — she mouthed a "Sorry!" and kept running.

If her father was so horrible to her, then he didn't deserve to have her as his daughter. That would teach him a lesson! He deserved for her to be kidnapped by criminals, or hit by a carriage, and then, when it was too late, he'd realize how much he'd wronged her and how terrible he had been! She didn't really want anything bad to happen to her, only for her father to think that it did so he could feel bad about it.

Maybe she'd find her long-lost grandmother and live with her. Zenobia had never seen her grandmother after her grandfather divorced her, didn't know where she lived or what she even looked like, but surely she could find her and ask her to live with her? And her father could stay with Nico or maybe have another child or maybe have no children at all because Mama would divorce him for being mean to her and then he'd be lonely and sad with no children.

These were the kind of thoughts that raced in Zen's mind as she ran down Diagon Alley.
