The running, the whispering, the avoiding his game, and yet still she expected him to believe it was her. If they'd been closer in height he might have been able to discern her expression, but she was looking down and he was unable to make out anything but her messy braid and freckled forehead. Hand still wrapped around her wrist, he brought his other hand up to her face and slowly angled her chin towards him. His expression was soft and worried; he wasn't going to argue with her, but by letting her run off with no explanation he knew there was no way he was going to sleep well that night. She was usually so vocal, wearing her heart on her sleeve; it was so unlike her to be so quiet and secretive, even with him. It was so confusing!
"I know we agreed not to worry about the little things, but this doesn't seem little," he breathed, shaking his head. He'd tried to figure it out, but nothing big had happened that should have caused this. When they fought, it was loud and expressive—he almost preferred it to the silent, awkward tension that had been growing between them since quidditch tryouts. He was at least glad no one was around to witness this. The last thing they needed was rumors or questioning when Cameron still had no idea what in Merlin's name was happening. "Please tell me what's going on. I know it's normal to want to run away from homework, but it's worrying when you actually do." He tried to make a joke, to lessen the tension, but his frown endured.
