Instinctively Konstantin caught his companion and he was assaulted, quite ruthlessly and joyously, by the scent of her hair and whatever perfume she was wearing. It was earthy, pretty, not too insistent and he thought it might as well have been made just for Amelia.

The creature at least seemed none the worse for wear and Kons briefly marvelled that such a small thing had managed to send a fully grown woman flying. But then she was quite small.
“I don’t think he likes me,” he said with a grin, having conveniently neglected to untangle his arms from around her shoulders. For a moment he let himself enjoy the sensation but eventually took a steadying step back, smiling sheepishly. “What has Miss MacKay been telling him about me I wonder?”
