For fun and dramaz, I would like this to be with someone to whom he is unsuited. For example, ladies who are:

• Upper class.
  
• Married or engaged.
  
• 10 years his senior.
  
• Not a lady at all. Arv is "mostly straight", but I can see him falling for a more effeminate fellow.
  

Simply being working class or, say, unethical in some way or other, probably isn't enough drama (because Arv is a scruffy ne'er-do-well), but I'm open to other suggestions for sure~
