Arven hadn't killed "his" prey with the spell, opting to stun it instead, but thankfully it was not conscious when the vampire killed it with her hunger, snatching it up before the ranger had a chance to bring it to her. She drank ravenously like a woman who hadn't seen a drop of water in days. Arven watched coolly but uneasily, wand now loose at his side but not forgotten.
He had intended to remind her that by saving her life he'd surely earned the continuation of his own, but it seemed she was inclined towards agreement anyway, and was either friendly or appeared to be friendly as she swiftly recovered. And it really was swift; one moment entirely incapacitated, the next on her feet and dusting herself off as if she'd just fallen from a horse, regarding her tall human saviour with hand extended.
He shook it. "Arven"; one first name for another, and he would later muse that she had probably lost her surname somewhere along the unknowable road of immortality. "And you're quite welcome, madam."
"So what happened?" he had to ask, nodding down at the two drained animals with the crease of a frown, wondering why the ethereal-yet-dangerous Lorelei had seemed so painfully thirsty when it seemed she had been drinking mere seconds before.
