Handsome was not prepared to deal with this. Hogwarts was a safe place for him, a place where he could ignore his family woes until the next forced holiday (which, of course, would be the end of all holidays of dealing with his family). Handsome just wanted to enjoy his last few months, hence why his face was turning red with anger — no, frustration — when she began to speak ill of him.
"She's not my girl, first of all." That too was a lie, but Handsome had no intention of letting her think otherwise. "I've stated it over and over again: I will not apologize for keeping the household together, even at the expense of hurting your delicate feelings," he huffed. Sweetie wanted to screech and run off and accuse everyone of everything during the summer months, and expected to deal with no punishments in return. He really hadn't even punished her — only yelled to the point where she'd sworn against him forever.
"And—" he started again, only to be interrupted by the vicious statement that left his little sisters mouth. She'd wished he'd died instead of father. For a boy who'd sworn he'd never get hurt by his annoying little sister's words, that actually stung. He shut his mouth instantly, staring at her with a cold, yet obviously hurt gaze.
"Just go, Sweetie," he finally said. And with a second thought, whispered: "You're lucky I'm not taking points."
