Leah did not like Kristoffer Lestrange, nor did she wish to be on his team. But she did not hate Kristoffer Lestrange - not yet - and that was precisely why she was here: if he'd been threatening Prudence, she needed a firsthand experience to solidify her own hatred for him. (And if she made the team, it would make terrorizing him - likely from afar and without it being traced back to her - all that much easier.)
The first strike against his character was when he demanded she, along with the other ladies and the first years, did more laps than the boys. Leah considered herself equal to men, but his demands seemed to go against societal expectations completely! Was he looking to make fools of them? Or was it a secret message that he had no intention to let them on the team despite making them work nearly twice as hard as their older, male counterparts?
With her life curled and a quiet scoff under her breath, Leah mounter her broom and did the required laps. It was better than having to run, she supposed, but the wind on her skin nearly burned after a while. Fortunately the summer air was stiller than the spring and not as crispy as the winter air.
Still, the chill on her nose was evident when she landed. She was already grumpy.
Then came the actual tryouts, and Leah opted to try for keeper before anything else. It would likely give her poor nose a break, and assuming the prospective chasers lacked tactical skill, she might make it out without a bruise.
Once the trial was over, she landed back on the ground, every hair out of place and her eyes narrowed at whatever - or whoever - she could focus her eyes on. Dammit, now she had to do chaser trials.
