His brain was still struggling to dissect what had just happened as Jin hastened it along and got only half a response out of himself. He was dazed and little bit confused. Neomuyeppeo. It was… such an unambiguous, unexpected little phrase and yet Jin was sure Moon-ssi hadn’t meant it the way he’d heard it. Right? He couldn’t possibly. Not when he had someone he was betrothed to (she who shall not be named and all) and not— well— him. Moon-ssi wasn’t like that.
(Jin pointedly ignored the look he’d seen scrawled across his friend’s face when he’d brushed his thumb against Moon-ssi’s cheek, and the fact that they were constantly checking in and touching one another. It wasn’t like that for him. If anything Moon-ssi probably saw him like an annoying younger brother. Even if… he seemed rather more eager to allow Jin his lingering touches than maybe a real brother might.)
He’d have to pay more attention because there was no good explanation for what had happened. Surely it was here, somewhere, and he just couldn’t see it yet. A little observation might solve this, Jin’s new riddle, and keep him comfortably out of trouble.
Accepting Moon-ssi’s hand, Jin stood and brushed himself off. “Ne,” he responded in his distraction. He hardly heard the tease in his friend’s voice or the comment about the sun. (A fair point, regardless. Anything too bright and it would start to burn in addition to the cold chill still threatening. What a ridiculous paradox he was.) Jin shook out their bag as he made to wander off but then Moon-ssi poked him in the cheek (probably as a result of his little joke) and Jin looked up, warm. He stared for just a second too long but saw nothing in his friend’s face out of the ordinary. “It’s over there,” he said, trying to distract them both. Golden brown eyes turned slightly to the right in the direction he’d pointed and Jin made to lead the way. By the time he actually focused, they’d practically walked into a whole enclave of the stuff. “This,” he said, relaxing as fingers brushed the soft leaves. It was a bright green, indicting new growth, and had spread almost three feet across along the edge of the forest line. Jin handed Moon-ssi the bag. “Jebal, can you hold this open?” He asked, voice soft but any distraction or shyness gone. He was eager to collect enough of a sample to win them brownie points. They were probably the first to do it!
