After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.

The eldest child of Elwin and Evelyn Abercrombie, Ares was set for life the day he was born. He is doted upon by his mother, spends more one-on-one time with his father than his siblings are afforded, and is, more or less, a typical boy of his station. Regina loves Ares dearly, though their relationship oscillates between animosity and dedication. She notes that he has a mean streak that could come out ... He would light upon an insecurity, and irritation, and pick at it like a scab—he knew he shouldn't, but it was hard for him to resist. He also sometimes cheats at chess. Though he does not like to show it, Ares is actually anxious to go to Hogwarts in the fall in spite of the fact that his cousins and aunt-sister are going. At home, he matters, but there, he'll just be another student...

Suggested PB is Jude Hill with alternatives to have light hair.
