That he was daydreaming didn’t surprise her in the least. There had been more than enough times in the past where Sophie had found Endymion in a hallway, parlor or even at the dinner table with a far off look in his eye. Sometimes she let him be; other times she’d pick off a mature bud from the flower vase she had in her hand and lobbed it at his head; and other times she took pity on him and reminded him of an appointment with someone he was late for.
She did her best not to startle when he suddenly looked down, the entirety of his attention focused on her. Her fingers fumbled on the buttons of his jacket; her hands were moving further down, and though this was a completely natural thing for a servant to do whilst dressing someone with a jacket, Sophie found her mind momentarily split. It was the proximity, she told herself, and gave a small hum of acknowledgement before listening to his…odd request?
Caught off guard, she took this opportunity to hastily finish her task before stepping back and peering up at him with a curious expression. “Risky?” She echoed, her eyes already scanning the people milling around them, despite the fact that people had barely begun to show up. “Are you expecting someone to try and sabotage the party?”
