Hadrian couldn’t stop himself from scoffing, turned defensive at her derision. Oh, so she had not missed him at all? Then he could believe perfectly well that Delia had been desperate to be rid of him all along. After all, much as he might have wanted to think otherwise at the time, their separation had made it clear where her priorities truly lay.
“Good. I will,” Hadrian declared, with unearned confidence and a fierce private urge to snoop around her parents’ house, to see if there were any other clues to the shape and state of her life now.
