"No," Daff said as she threw something else at him. It was a good thing all she could reach was empty jars. "I tried and I tried and I tried to make up for what I did. You told me no. You told me I was not enough." She felt a twinge in her back and pushed against her stomach, adjusting her stance, to balance out the feeling. This couldn't be good for the baby, but she was too entrenched now. "All I needed was something, anything, to hold on to and you left me with nothing but smoke in my hands." Hot, bitter tears sprang to her eyes and she didn't care.
"I am not in love with you anymore. I have love for you, I always will. But it is not the same and I cannot be this person for you anymore." She just couldn't.
