Reuben Crouch is the Hogwarts flight instructor and will be active again in the fall so that's another connection. He also spent a lot of time in his youth in dubious crowds in Europe if they had any overlap (though his dubious crowds were the "sex and drugs" variety not the "black market" variety, not sure where Samuel was).
He kept similar contacts in Paris. They might well have had a run-in when Reuben was just entering the scene and Sam was about to leave it. That could be fun!

Samuel spends much time in London this summer, dissolving his Alchemist Laboratories and selling (or secretly trying to get rid of) valuable and perplexing things that could be of interest to a potioneer, especially an experimental one
