It was difficult to tell if Priscilla was keen on the idea of dancing twice with the same man during her debut or not — or more specifically, whether she seemed keen on the idea of dancing twice with him — because Rosalie hadn't allowed her to speak for herself once since she'd interrupted the conversation, and now she was getting tugged away. Ezra wasn't sure he'd even finished writing his whole last name down in the space for the waltz before the card slipped out of his fingers. Well, fine — if she couldn't read the handwriting and didn't come find him for the waltz, it wasn't going to break his heart.
After they'd left he traced through the conversation in his mind, ostensibly trying to figure out where exactly he'd left things with Priscilla so that he could be better armed for conversation during their upcoming dance... but the more he thought about it the more the interruption from Rosalie bothered him. He polished off his drink and moved towards the refreshment table to get another, then spotted Rosalie again — without Priscilla in tow, and this time heading away from the ballroom and towards the hallway where house elves had taken everyone's coats upon arrival. He should have just ignored her, as he'd been trying to do all night, but after she'd inserted herself so forcefully in the last conversation he was having trouble just letting it drop.
"Hey," he called as he slipped out of the Great Hall, following her into the front hallway. "If you've got something to say —"
