Dear Lady Arundell,
Happy New Year!
I tried for a compromise, but it still sounds so bizarre. "My lady" has a ring to it that feels awfully posessive too... Is that what muggle titles are meant to do? I never really understood all the differences. Maybe you can teach me one day, if I ever have to meet anyone else as special as you. Is that weird to say? That might be weird to say, but I don't know anyone else related to the Queen of England. I think it's pretty special whatever else.
I'm glad to hear you like the toffees. The fudge was pretty great excellent too! Maybe next year we can share puddings and more sweets. I have a weakness for sugar Ma says, so there's still time.
You're lucky you don't have to think much about school while you're home. Here it feels like every single person I've seen has been asking about nothing else! Ma made me study transfiguration for hours today... she says Professor Foxwood is quite tough but I think she just knows how much I hate it. I don't mind charms as much I guess; if I had the choice I'd rather study that. At least Professor Ruskin doesn't get annoyed at me when I doodle new broom modifications in the margins of my homework...
This term we should practice flying together again. Ma says I'm finally allowed to bring my own broom rather than use a school one and it's so much better Kitty! You'll see. It's less bumpy and much easier to steer! I think you'll like it more than those fidgety ones we've been practicing on. Thanks again for helping me keep an eye on Fergus. He came home with me looking much better than last year and it's mostly thanks to you. (Don't tell Ma. She thinks my not being able to keep an eye on the cat somehow means I won't cherish my broom. Crazy, right?)
Anyway, I'll see you again soon. Have a safe trip back to school!
Sincerely,
Callum
