Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

  • sometimes mixes in French into her daily vocabulary; this usually displays itself not in random words but in exclamations and instances where she's too flustered in some way to use English. Examples are: zut! (shoot!) /oh, la! (oh!)/hein? (what?; informal)/aïe! (ouch!)/ euh... (um...)/ouf! (phew)
  • was rarely seen without her twin Aristide Selwyn at Hogwarts, despite having been in separate houses; some may have thought their being nearly in sync with each other a little off putting (though there were never any vibes or rumors of anything lascivious xD)

  • owns an Apothecary in Magical London
  • he's never been the 'approachable' kind of person; has a bit of unsettling vibe about him; even more so when he stares at you
  • if you've ever seen him with Basil Foxwood he seems more calm and at ease than anywhere else

  • used to be Head Auror before going missing on a mission in 1887; was found by Ari Fisk later that year and re-joined the aurors in 1888
  • owns Sterling Stables in Hogsmeade
  • goofy and lively just about anywhere (though recently he's very withdrawn and quite depressed)

  • often performs small acts of windless magic; one of his most common ones is to conjure a fireball in his hand for light, or a small flame on his finger tip if he needs to light a cigarette or candle
  • his office door is often open unless it's a meeting
  • has a picture of him and Malou at their wedding on his desk, and individual pictures of his children hanging on the wall
  • keeps the pocket watch that Malou gifted him on his person at all times

  • when a bartender at the Hog's Head, she often took in street-urchins if they needed shelter and gave them hot meals whenever they needed, and cleaned them up if they got into fights
  • often had to break up bar fights at the Hog's Head
  • has deadly aim with a knife that she carries concealed on a chain at her waist

  • picked up using her wand as a mahl stick from Louisa. While Louisa just uses her wand, Irene commissioned a small hollow rod fixed with a softball on the end in which to insert her wand so it doesn't get paint on it.
  • if she's not using her wand as a mahl stick, she has a tendency to put her wand between her teeth if she needs to temporarily use both hands.
  • very often is late to things and could often be seen running through the streets of Hogsmeade with paint supplies
  • loved to paint in Padmore Park, and would often hand out her sketches of people that she did
  • left Hogsmeade without really saying good bye to anyone at the beginning of June 1893; will likely not be seen there anymore
  • more often than not had paint streaks on her face and charcoal paw-prints on her clothes courtesy of her large, color changing cat

  • to avoid fighting over the Daily Prophet, Eamon and Lowri eventually had to put in multiple subscriptions for the DP for the family (they tried simply duplicating the paper when they first got it, but after a wayward duplication spell ended in an entire second breakfast table nearly crushing them all, Lowri thought the multiple subscriptions was worth the smaller investment)
  • attempted to enforce a 'no wands at the breakfast table' rule
  • loves dancing at events
  • not a very strict mother, though she can be fickle
  • kind of like Morticia Addams Lite™
  • has a lady's maid/assistant named Sophia Miller whom she often calls Millie; while she's very smart, Millie is often flustered and can be more than a little hapless. Lowri refuses to sack her though, and considered her almost like a daughter. It's not a secret around the Dempsey estate that Millie has a crush on Endymion Dempsey and will often accidentally drop anything in her hands if he suddenly walks into the room

  • in possession of eyes large enough to border on slightly unsettling if she doesn't blink for a long time; there's a possibility she might appear catatonic. When interviewing for a story, she can often adopt this expression as well, and is quite skilled at writing on a piece of parchment without looking at it (even without using Pittman Shorthand).
  • has the tendency to lean forward on the balls of her feet as if she's about to leap up and take flight somewhere
  • wears her reporters badge when out in the field
  • sometimes has ink stains on her hands
  • she is a fair reporter in her Daily Prophet articles, and tries to tell the truth no matter the consequences
  • used to be extremely angry as a child; would often throw temper tantrums and pull mean pranks on her siblings
  • cannot swim
  • sticks her nose where it doesn't belong, and can often be the devil on your shoulder if she's with you and smells a lead on a story
  • has been escorted away from crime scenes on more than one occasion

  • is terrible at keeping surprises a secret
  • is used to using her hands as tools; she gestures often when she talks
  • is the welcome witch at Evergardens, which is owned by her family
  • loves the smell of eucalyptus
  • is allergic to eucalyptus
  • is directionally challenged; despite knowing the layout of Evergardens backwards and forwards, she can still often get lost if she's deep in thought
  • will stand at the entrance of Evergardens on sunny or rainy days and hand passers by large Colocasias to use as umbrellas
  • is a Seer; the way she experiences visions, it feels as if she's been physically shoved through a small tunnel, or hit in the abdomen. As a result, she often falls down wherever she's standing when she has them. Most of the time she comes out alright however there are times when she gains light bruises and sprained ankles. On rare occasions when she's on top of a ladder, they're a bit more severe and require her to take a break from work.
  • has an extremely mischievous fox named Tchaikovsky that follows her around. Thai (or Chai, after her favorite beverage) is allergic to Wisteria, which also happens to be his favorite plant to roll around in
