Francesca fixed Miss Fogg with a hard stare. She wondered if it was coming across through the thick mourning veil and almost pulled it back so that Fogg might feel the full impact of her glower.

"Siphoning away what was rightfully mine," Francesca said; whether she was talking about Finlay's attention or their family finances was debatable. "But circumstances have put a stop to that."
