The festivities surrounding the castle had been ramped up recently; more so in this year than the past few years Agrimony had been there. Were it any other holiday, he'd find himself hiding away from most of the students and the festivities, but Halloween seemed to carry it's own sort of festive quality that he found a bit Charming. Even so, Agrimony had had quite enough of everything and took advantage of people going to sleep and storing up their energy. The minute he'd heard the light snores from his dorm mates was when he scooted out of bed, shrugging on his thicker robe to exit the common room. Shadows enveloping him as he walked through the dungeons, Agrimony appreciated the gradual exposure to the lamplights lining the hallways. Eventually they faded as he crossed the threshold of the castle and stepped out onto the grounds.

Cold air nipped at his skin and ears, to which his response was to pull his hood over his head even further. As he did so, a noise behind him caught his attention, though he only quickened his pace, heading for the even deeper shadows that seeped out of the Black Forest like a gash. The noise behind him got a bit louder; hastened even. Frowning, the Slytherin made haste and eventually leapt into the shadows. His cloak made little sound as he slipped behind an obliging tree.

A stick cracked through the silence of the air followed by a pause. If he quieted his own breathing, Agrimony could hear the person approaching. Their footsteps were not the lightest, apparently. And yet even without having caught a glimpse of his pursuer, he felt he knew who it was. Even so, out of an abundance of caution, he slipped his wand out of his pocket. A small blade with a silver handle was clutched in his other hand.

Now, something told him, and he watched the figure pass him. Slipping behind the intruder, Agrimony brought the blade around to rest on the figure's throat, the end of his wand digging into the back of their head. "Don't move."
