My hero did nothing to help abate the situation at hand. Dory raised a brow and chuckled, but was unable to comment before Greengrass made to leave. Unable to allow them both the dignity of a polite separation, Dory replied, "I'll write you the charms to use, if you'd like. I'd hate for you to have to rewrite all the letters. A hero's work never ends, and all."

  

What Ford really wanted was to extricate himself from the situation before he could say anything else he regretted (or before another ceiling collapse had him momentarily pinned beneath the other man once again), but he could think of no polite reason to refuse.

"Well," he said a little sheepishly. "If you don't mind."
