Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Dueling had seemed a good way to get to know some of her new students, at least by name, but now that she was faced with actually having to moderate a duel she wasn't sure she'd made the wisest choice. Thea knew enough about dueling but would hardly call herself an expert, hopefully there wouldn't be any close calls.
After going over the rules with the two girls it was time to begin. "Miss Ruskin, please start us off!"
It was a surprise to see Miss Whitledge as her opponent. Best friend to her sister. Not that this would give Acacia any reason to go easy on the Slytherin. She really wanted to win, and wasn't even fond of Miss Whitledge's influence over Chrysanta anyway.
With pleasantries exchanged, Acacia made her move. "Confundo!" Hopefully confusion would prevent Miss Whitledge from making a move.
The fact that it was Crystal's sister made this slightly amusing. She was certainly going to habe to tell her fellow Slytherin all about it. But for now it was time to focus. Pleasantries exchanged, Sweetie was ready to cast incendio in the hopes of making a fire wall between her and Miss Ruskin as she attempted to dodge the Ravenclaw's spell.
Parthenope watched as Miss Whitledge managed to cast her spell through the confundus charm... in the opposite direction from her opponent. She wasn't quite sure how she'd intended to defend herself with a small flamethrower and she'd probably never find out. She waved her wand at Miss Whitledge and freed her from the charm. "Miss Ruskin is the winner of the first round! Miss Whitledge, please begin the next."

Oh Merlin, that was embarrassing. Crystal was not going to hear about that. Perhaps making a fool of the Ravenclaw would be fitting, so Sweetie decided to cast the antler jinx.
Success did feel good, but this was not over yet. "Finite!" Hopefully stopping Miss Whitledge's spell entirely would be enough of an impressive achievement. If it worked.
Thea winced as a pair of extraordinarily large antlers sprouted from Miss Ruskin's head. Was that intentional? Regardless Miss Ruskin had failed to protect herself so the result was quite clear. She tried to relieve the poor girl of what looked like a very heavy burden but the antlers remained fused to her skull. Ah. That was awkward. She was quite confident in her own spell casting ability in this instance which meant it looked likely to be a job for a professional healer. "That brings it to a tie then, ladies. Miss Ruskin, if you'd like to begin the deciding round."
[Scores: Acacia 9.5, Sweetie 12] +6 for injury!

Oh Merlin! She certainly hoped this was not a permanent feature! Acacia shot Miss Whitledge a small glare before casting her spell, "Deprimo!" Aiming at between her opponent's feet.
It was hard to stop from giggling, but Sweetie managed. Instead she heard Miss Ruskin begin her spell and tried to be quicker with, "Expelliarmus!" Hoping to disarm her before the words were finished.
Thea watched with a hint of amusement as one girl's wand flew straight past her. That was a nice, clean result. Hopefully now Miss Ruskin could go seek medical assistance and get rid of her protrusions. "Congratulations, Miss Whitledge! Take five house points. Miss Ruskin, you might want to get help with those antlers."
