Alice was right of course, some of them would be having a grand time. The adventurous ones at the very least. But the shyer, more hesitant ones? She still worried over them.

"When have you ever known me not to fret?" Sisse asked ruefully, tucking the quilt in around Alice.

"Never," she admitted with a short laugh. "Doesn't mean you shouldn't. I'll see you at supper tonight." With that final statement to Sisse, Alice turned on her side away from her friend and did her best to fall asleep.
