Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Talk You Out of It
#17
Winnie let him scoot away and flopped somewhat dramatically back on the mattress, tucking her hands behind her head. She stared at the ceiling as he admitted what was actually bothering him. "And here I thought you just missed me." She teased him lightly, rolling her head to look at him. She reached for the sheet of her bed, not for any modesty reasons, but simply because without the closeness of another body, she was cold.

"Nobody is off limits, unless they're uninterested, just depends on how unscrupulous you're willing to be with your morals." Winnie quite believed that you couldn't help who you were attracted to or who you loved on some level. The only real problem was when they weren't interested. Then there was nothing you could do about it. Just as you couldn't help who you fell for, you couldn't make anyone have feelings for you either.

He shrugged sheepishly and chuckled. "You're always my number one lady, you know that." Winnie understood him better than most others. Should she ever need anything, he'd always come to her aid.

"I don't think ... they're uninterested." He then continued, all sense of cockiness gone and replaced with a hint of embarrassment. Dory had nearly said he which was a reveal he wasn't yet prepared for. "But, there are boundaries and obstacles to finding out. I wouldn't even know how to gauge their interest."

Winnie hummed out an agreement, amused by the sentiment. The nature of their relationship was so far into the field that she knew it was only a matter of time before something got lost somehow, but she was enjoying it for the moment. Had enjoyed the entire duration.

She'd been about to ask how he went about figuring out she was interested, but if she thought back, Winnie was pretty sure she was the one who had made the first move, as she often did. She could sympathize though, when she was in the mood to pursue a lady, which was a risk still, she had to be more particular about how she went about it. "I always judge by the conversation and how many innuendos I'm allowed to sneak in before they catch on." She offered by way of a tip.

"Frankly, if you can get them alone, you could just be frank. I've done that with a lady or two." Generally it worked in her favor, only once or twice has the lass not reciprocated.

Judging by innuendos wouldn't help him any, as their entire conversation about the contortionist and quidditch was loaded with them. (Or, maybe it could? Dory had offered to teach Greengrass how to play, afterall. Had he inadvertently suggested other activities?) Dory groaned and flopped back down onto his back. He couldn't really be considering this as a possibility, he just couldn't.

"I've never been alone with them." He said. Dory wasn't sure he wanted to, either. It was such a convoluted mess. "What do you do if you're alone and they don't react well?"

Winnie supposed it was harder for men. There was a finer line to walk, certainly, as it was against the law in many respects. Win didn't have that problem to contend with, as far as she (women) were concerned, they weren't supposed to even have a sex drive.

How laughable.

"Want me to give it a shot first, gauge the situation?" She teased with a light laugh, tossing her hair out of her face. "Body language might also work. Invade space, see how they react. If they move away, I'd say it's a no-go, if they don't well, make it personal." She shrugged against the mattress. "You never know until you try. As someone who has been with my fair share of people, of both genders and know of others who either go one way, both or their own, if you think there's a connection, it's worth exploring." Win knew she was weird though and that her private lifestyle was not ordinary by any means, she was not about to let anyone judge her for it.

"Definitely not." He replied immediately. Winnie approaching Greengrass with this all would only end in disaster, especially as Dory wasn't yet convinced Greengrass would go for it anyway. In fact, Dory himself wasn't yet convinced this desire was as natural as Winnie would have him believe. No, no one could approach Greengrass at all.

Deciding once more to ignore his embarrassment and frustration, Dory inched towards her, his hand tracing lightly up her arm. "Think you can give me an in depth lesson on invading space?" He asked teasingly. He never was good about having important conversations for longer than five minutes.

Winnie knew he wouldn't have gone for it, but she was amused either way. He'd figure it out, he was a big boy. Until then, she was more than happy to satiate any interim needs he may have.

At the feeling of his fingertips on her arm, Winnie grinned, rolling toward him once more. She chuckled as she ditched the sheet she had been using to keep herself warm during the pillow talk. In one swift movement, she straddled him, leaning in close to whisper in his ear, "I am the Queen of Invading Personal Space."
