Somersby,
I hope this finds you in good fettle, nephew. But I confess my well wishes come with an ulterior motive — I have a favour to ask of you.
Attached you will find some sketches of a fairly ordinary looking comb. It is a Pictish artifact. You may have read in the Prophet about a recent spate of Pictish curses, and indeed this comb turned somebody into a wren when she ran it through her hair.
Of course this problem is with the Ministry and St Mungo's to solve, but to no avail. So as I consider the affected lady a friend, I am investigating less conventional routes. Using what you have learned in your apprenticeship, please take a look at these sketches and tell me if you have any inkling as to what could lift the curse. I would also be grateful if you would consult your fellow Curse Breakers.
Sorry to disrupt your work, but sometimes curiosity comes calling.
I look forward to seeing you for dinner at Sanditon next week.
