Alistair Ramsay, “father” [b.1840]Appearance: Tall and lanky, Winslow has just started to grow into himself. With a couple years of Quidditch under his belt, he’s started to fill out a little more and gain some muscle. He’s far from being bulky though is getting some decent tone to his arms. His hair is a dark brown and often kept medium in length though typically kept a bit messy. There’s actually a fine art to it but he wouldn’t be one to admit to such a thing. Two main features stand out for the young man: His bright, piercing blue eyes and the sharp angles of his jawline and definition of his cheek bones. He’s well aware of these features and uses them to his advantage whenever possible. After all, a pretty face can get men far, too.
Isobel Ramsay neé Lennox, “mother” [b.1852]
Rhona Ramsay, “sister” [b.1880]
His clothing is always of the finest and best money can buy. He actually quite enjoys times when he’s expected to dress up and prefers the tightest, most tailored suits he can get his hands on. He’s right handed, as is to be expected, but has learned to use both hands equally well so as to not be hindered on the Quidditch Pitch.
History:
Prebirth: Muriel was a simple halfblood maid for Mrs. Selwyn. Quiet and sweet, exactly why Mr. Selwyn took a liking to her. Rendezvous were easy to keep hidden but the swelling belly, not so much. It didn’t take long for Mrs. Selwyn to figure it out and to take steps to seePersonality: Vocal, Arrogant, Exuberant, Boisterous, Athletic, Playboy in the makinganother ofhis illegitimate child taken care of. Knowing a close friend was struggling to get pregnant, Muriel was sent to the Scottish countryside. A son was born and handed off to the Ramsay family. With an unbreakable vow made to never speak of the boy’s heritage, Muriel was paid off and sent far from Scotland.
1875: Winslow Alistair is born. He’s set to be the heir of the Ramsay family, the first and only boy. He’s loud and boisterous from the start, intent on making his presence known always. His shock of dark brown hair may have raised a few brows initially as the Ramsay’s were light haired. But with both acknowledging him as their son, whispers were stomped out.
1880: A little girl is born, Rhona. She’s quiet and the exact opposite of Winslow. He doesn’t take well to her sudden presence and in a fit of rage and temper, his first signs of magic are shown. The nurse barely manages to save the little girl from her now flaming cradle and Winslow is sent to his room without dinner for the night.
1883: Alistair takes Winslow to see the Quidditch World Cup in Hogsmeade. It is the event that starts his love for Quidditch. It is also when he first realizes that his “father” very likely is not his father.
1885: Shortly after the new year, Alistair moves his family to Hogsmeade. With the plague and fires having taken care of some of the population, he figures it’s the best option for his family. At ten years old, Winslow is simply biding time until he gets to go to school.
1886: If he hadn’t questioned his paternity before, it is solidified when a very ambitious and boisterous Winslow is sorted into Slytherin. His parents had told him about their long lineage of always being sorted into Hufflepuff. Clearly the jump to Slytherin is just further proof that he doesn’t exactly fit with the Ramsey family. But, knowing how the world works, he obviously says nothing and doesn’t question his parents. He also tries out for the Quidditch team but does not succeed.
1887: A second year and a second attempt at joining the Quidditch team finally sees him successful. Having hit a growth spurt over the summer, he’s a good addition to the chaser crew. He could care less about the halfbreed ban and is grateful he didn’t attend the World Fair the day that all the chaos broke out.
1888: The magic killing fog is a bit troubling. Enough so that Alistair is quick to move the family back to the family estate in the countryside. It’s a summer spent being nothing but bored with no contact with friends. Instead, Winslow focuses solely on Quidditch and getting stronger.
1890: Having just turned fifteen, Winslow has come more into himself. Confident bordering on arrogant, he fancies himself quite the ladies man. Looking forward to a summer of fun, it’s hardly a surprise that he’s put little focus on his studies. Truthfully, his grades are dismal and it’s a surprise he manages to even stay in school. Apparently there’s some secret benefactor seeing to funding his schooling, Alistair having long ago given up on the boy and refusing to pay for him any longer. Not that he could really afford to anyways. Since moving to Hogsmeade, Mr. Ramsay has struggled with gambling and is lucky when he breaks even.
