— LATE FALL 1883 | Selene Isobel was born on a surprisingly sunny yet cold day in mid-November, the youngest child of Nathaniel I and Veronica Gallivan. She was a relatively calm baby, content to watch the world around her rather than engage with it, though this changed once she became more mobile and her natural curiosity would get the best of her.Personality:
— YEARS 1884 - 1887 The first four years of Leni's life were passed in an unremarkable fashion. She shares a close bond with her older brother, whom she looks up to and admires, and it was this newfound curiosity that had her often trailing after Natty as younger siblings are wont to do as he played and got up to general mischievousness. While she wasn't usually the instigator, she wasn't completely faultless in the pranks they pulled either, offering her own clever input time and time again.
— YEAR OF 1888 | Leni's father left on a scouting missing to Asia, and is later told that he has died. At five, Leni's concept of death was immature, and she didn't completely grasp what it meant but understood in a smaller way that she wouldn't see her father again. She missed him.On a lighter note, Natty's first instance of accidental magic saw him end up on the roof of the house. Leni was both baffled and thoroughly amused (and maybe a little concerned for his safety), wondering when her own magic would show itself.
— YEAR OF 1889 | Despite grief (in more ways than one) engulfing the family, life moved on for the Gallivans. At six, Selene was given a governess, and her own life was now filled by the pleasures of education. She loved learning, and was an engaged pupil, though was prone to focusing more on subjects she was interested in rather than those she wasn't. Namely anything she could do with her hands - art, music, and needlework just to name a few. Her governess was also a nature-lover, a firm believer that fresh air and exercise were necessary to a child's development, and a daily walk around Padmore Park or time spent in the garden was encouraged, her governess sparking an interest in the outdoors as she pointed out the name of plants, trees, and insects.
— YEAR OF 1890 | Leni was seven when she displayed her first act of magic. Her and her governess were walking through the park when they came across a pitiful mewling in the trees. A young cat was stuck on one of the branches, and before Governess had a chance to draw her wand to help, the brown tabby was already levitating back to the ground at Leni's prompting. Endeared by her excitement at showing magic, Governess allowed her to take the cat back home for food and cleaning, though Leni practically begged her mother to let her keep it. Her wish was granted, though not without a lecture on the responsibilities of taking care of a pet. She named the tabby Oak for the tree he was found in.
— FALL OF 1893 | Things progressed much in the same manner over the years since - playing with her brother and other neighborhood friends, learning from Governess, and taking care of her cat - until fall of 1893 when Natty left for Hogwarts. She was equal parts sad and jealous after he left, and wrote to him often throughout the school year, regaled by his letters about the castle, classes, and Quidditch. She couldn't wait to go herself, and bemoaned that her birthday fell after September 1st.
— SUMMER 1895 (PRESENT) | Selene finally got her Hogwarts letter, and is anticipating her own departure for Hogwarts. She's especially excited to get her first wand!
