Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Dear Julius,

I wish I were writing under better circumstances, however, sadly I am not. As such I shall be direct in my purpose for this letter. I am sure you are already aware that your father visited Flint Mansion yesterday to meet with Bella. Mother said that Bella is missing and that she is neither at our home nor yours. We have not heard from her at all since your father’s visit. I am very worried about my dear cousin and I had hoped that you might know her whereabouts.

I implore you to let this letter remain between the two of us as a favor to our childhood friendship. But should you hear from your sister please let her know that I am worried sick about her.

Sincerely,
Lucille Flint

I was not aware. Father rarely tells me of his comings and goings and I rarely ask after them.

I have not seen Bella at our home for some weeks, nor have I heard much from her. This is concerning to hear. I have no intentions to say anything to my father, though I will say something to Minty - but I will not tell her of you being my informant. I implore you to tell me if you as well hear from Bella.

I will do some digging at work to see if there has been anything on that end.

Dear Julius,

I know you and Minty must be as concerned as myself and it worries me that you had not already known of this. I thank you for your discreteness in this matter and assure you that I shall write to you the moment I hear from our dear Bella.

If there is anything I can do at all to help please let me know. I should hate to sit idly by if I could be of some use.

Gratefully,
Lucille Flint

Thank you for your offer, I will write you if I think of anything I can ask of you, but for now the primary thing is that if you hear anything, please send word right away.

Dear Julius,

I hope you and Minty are Minty are holding up alright. I just heard about your father and I admit that I am terribly troubled. Mother and I hope you and your family are holding up alright under all this scandal. We are always here to support you.

I admit that I still have not heard from Bella herself, but I relieved when I read in the Prophet that she has been found alive. I am sure you are as relieved as I am at the news but this awfulness with your father must be terrible as well.

Please let us know if there is anything mother or I can do for you.

Honestly... I am just glad it is out. I don't have to pretend it is all okay. I don't have to worry about coming home to Bella or Minty hurt. I just hope he's sent away. I don't want him to come back.
Good, probably not. Alright, maybe. Honestly, I am just grateful she is alive. I just really didn't want to go through loosing her for years again - though she still hasn't reached out to me so I cannot discredit that yet.

We are okay. So far there hasn't been much attention on us. Its been primarily on father and Bella. The house has been quite, with father gone. Its unnerving. Mother seems the most bothered.
We share that sentimentality. The news of her discovery has prioritized my attention, but now, with processing, there is room for father's arrest. I am not sure what will happen. They've taken me off the case at work. In all honesty, I was never allowed on it.
I'm too close. To partial to bias. Which is fair. I know what I want to happen and I am blinded by favor of one over the other. I would hinder more than help, professionally at least. My emotions do cloud, as much as I wish they didn't, and as such, even with all my training, I cannot see the outcome. Whatever happens, things will change.
Your offer comforts me, Lucy, but for now, you'd best stay out, at least publicly. Whatever happens, everyone involved will be touched and I'd quite rather not drag you and Aunt Flint into for society to tear you to pieces as I am sure it will do to us.

Julius,

I can not even begin to imagine dear Aunt Media’s state. Mother worries for her, much as I do. But I know Aunt Media has comfort in knowing you and Minty are with her.

It seems fair and cruel in an equal mix that you can not be on the case. But I suppose it is for the best. Is there anything you can do to help assist from the outside?

You should know by now that I care for family beyond reputation. Please do not worry for our sakes, for family is stronger than all the talk in the world. I remain here as a support, publicly or privately, only tell me if you wish for anything.

Lucille Flint
