"I'd like to take my daughter to the continent before her debut," Seraphina said. She had not been aware of this desire until she verbalized it; her expression became delighted. "Not nearly as exotic as South America, I'll admit." Sera wished dearly that she had the opportunity to travel to more far-flung locales; but even with her faculties under her own control, she still did not have that level of freedom.

"The continent has its merits." Jack shrugged. The variety of creatures was not that different from that of the isles but there was quite a bit to be seen. "France is lovely in the spring, and Portugal too." A little further south to the waters of the Mediterranean where it was nice and warm would also be lovely. Any of the cities along the coast were great fun for a quick adventure.

"South America is rather... I don't want to uncivilized, but it can be a rough journey, exciting and fun, but not one of comfort. I'm sure the continent will be a nice change of pace if nothing else." Jack had been very prepared to sleep in tents and camp under the stars while trekking through the jungle; it was nothing against Mrs. Bythesea, but he doubted that was the sort of trip she was looking for.

France, Portugal — both sounded like excellent travel. Sera could not remember where she had gone for her Honeymoon.

"Even if it's a rough trip," Sera said, "That sounds like a good adventure." She wanted an adventure — she wanted the adventures she had not been able to have when she was a young debutante. Sera's expression changed; she smiled. "If problematic for a young debutante," she allowed. "Would you take your son to South America?"

"It is a good adventure." Jack didn't mind the rough conditions, the hiking or the sleeping in tents. Magic made things much easier, he was sure, than any muggle methods, but he was not afraid of forgoing the traditional comforts of his lifestyle for the excitement of travel. "I should think if a young debutante was willing to brave the trip, it would be worth it." Jack had traveled and worked with many capable women, many of whom his colleagues would scoff at, but had been proven wrong time and time again.

"Perhaps after he graduates from Hogwarts. It is an athletic sort of trip, I would not want to put any undo stress on him until he could handle it physically. My first trip was eye opening and I have always considered myself capable of handling the rigorous conditions, still do." Jack had always been in decent shape, between the physicality of his work and the semi-regular trips of his youth, he had maintained the stamina for travel. Even if he did not get the chance nearly as much, he hadn't slowed down all that much.

The way he spoke about his adventures, about traversing the wilderness — it was attractive. Sera looked down at her champagne glass briefly so that she could keep her expression interested, but not too interested. Desire was a newly-awakened emotion, since coming out from under the curse. It had fits and starts. She was not sure how to deal with it.

She looked back up at Mr. Collins, looking far more normal than she felt. "Harriet is only a third year," Sera said, "But if she's anything like she is now when she's that age — I think she shall be able to handle it. The real question is if I will."

"Plenty of time for you to start preparing." Jack ventured with a chuckle. "Just take long walks and carry something heavy." It was a lot of walking, over a lot of tough terrain, but, "The views are worth it." He assured her with a softer smile. "You could also start with smaller trips. I'm happy to make some recommendations if you like." Jack loved to travel and he did have a good amount of experience; he could probably suggest a good itinerary for a mother-daughter trip, if Mrs. Bythesea wanted.

"I'll start wandering London," Sera said. She had an impulse to wander around London regardless — the concept of being untethered seemed like a sort of freedom. "I would absolutely take recommendations." He was handsome; handsome people had good recommendations.

Jack was about to suggest she do so safely, but something about Mrs. Bythesea suggested she neither needed someone following her around nor wanted one. "I'll put together a list for you and owl you some options." Jack never balked at the chance to share his adventures or the places that he had been, especially with those who seemed genuinely interested.
