So as we all have at one point or another always, a character has bouncing around my mind inspired by a character from the TV show Yellowstone. Well, now I've started watching 1883 and the muse has come home to roost, so to speak :P

So may I preemptively introduce Avery; a Meta and Southern American who's now making her way to the UK. My plan is for her to eventually end up as a creature healer/magizoologist living at the Glen (trying to build up clientele around the UK) with either one or two kids. Aiming to make her between 24-27. I'd originally planned to have her completely unattached and new in town, but I realized I've put in a few opportunities for her to potentially be connected to pre-established characters.

After her family is murdered, Avery eventually:
  • joins a circus in Utah as a creature tamer
  • gets caught up in a magical contract of indentured servitude in a California red-light district
  • gets pregnant (undetermined father)*
  • marries a man who agrees to act as the father as long as she uses her meta abilities for him*
  • then, come 1890, said man dies and she's left trying to decide what to do

The opportunities for potential played fam/connections are either a) an actual father who would have been in America for whatever reason, b) family of the man who dies (undetermined death), or c) her paternal British grandmother† married down, married an American muggleborn and
moved across the pond.

Not sure of your exact timeline but Ben was in America doing creature-related odd jobs from 1882 - 1884. At least some part of that was in the Arizona/New Mexico/Utah area because he got a tattoo of a thunderbird lol
He was then cursebreaking and traveling to various places between 1884-1887, and was exiled to Canada in autumn of 1887 for about 6 months. So. There are plenty of avenues for overlap >> he already has one kid being raised by another man, what's one more?

Alfred lost his virginity in America but that's in 1873 so the math's not mathing there lol. Anyway he could in theory have brushed shoulders with people in North or South America but not useful for actual family connections.

Also the Urquarts are American on their mom's side so could potentially be related to that guy but tbh I have forgotten if there were ever any details established on mom beyond "is American" and "is black" and "is dead" LOL so you'd have to dig around to see if that would actually work xD

Her grandmother could be Roses sibling?
They might have known each other as children, no one knows Rose is in England that could be a nasty surprise for both and provide her with a place to land in England.
Roses family were UC, but she eloped with a boy for a lower class, was disowned, turns out she didn’t actually marry, then stole his money and ran off to England after her daughter died.

I legit had a dream about this thread last night, and in my dream I was apparently very intent on pitching a version of this at you.
