Oscar obviously still didn't get it, and Victor wasn't sure whether it was worth the effort to keep trying to get his point across or whether he ought to just cut his losses and end the conversation. It wasn't just about doing math — it was about being able to figure things out, finding ways to make things happen or to acquire things that Victor didn't have access to in his newly minted after-life. But all of these things were things he wouldn't have thought twice about when he was alive — acquiring a chalkboard would have taken nothing more but a directive to a servant, not weeks of careful thought and planning — so he wasn't sure, even if he explained it, that Oscar would really get it.

"Yeah, thanks," he said. Ending the conversation was probably easier for both of them. "Cheers."
