Appearance: Alejandro’s looks don’t exactly leave him fitting in the standard English crowd. Standing 6’ 1” with a warm, coppery tone to his skin, he stands out as a foreigner. Despite nearing his 40’s, his hair has yet to give way to silvering, remaining a dark brown that reveals some golden tones on the rare occasion he gets to see the sunlight. He generally keeps it on the longer side, it easily falling over his thick brows as he often gets too involved to remember to visit a barber much less to remember to submit himself to a shave which means he far too often looks on the scruffy side. The stubble usually only highlight his sharp features such as his strong cheekbones or pouty lips, but he has never considered himself to be much of a looker as he has been far more preoccupied with his career.

Although he doesn’t care much about how he comes off, Alejandro’s wardrobe does show that there has been some thought put into his looks even if it wasn’t by his hand. While he could just live his life happily garbed in a healer’s robe, roaming the halls of St. Mungos, his day-to-day when he needs to go out gives him the appearance of a man who in the least once tried to keep up appearances. It’s nothing for him to wear a suit when he’s out and about, made to socialize, all of his clothing kept up by the hands he pays to do so when needed. Though he pays little attention to it, each suit has a matching wand holster that he does still wear daily on his right side for easy access, the thoughtful gift a relic from what feels like a lifetime ago. On occasion, Alejandro can be found wearing his gold wedding band on his wand hand out of habit until someone commits on it, reminding him that it’s yet another relic, one that he shamefully puts away until he forgets once more that it’s perhaps shameful for him to forget his status.

History: TThough his family was by no means loaded, Alejandro’s family was well off enough that they were able to give their children enough to establish themselves and find their place in the world there in Spain despite the politics weighing on the country. The union of Juan and Amilia had been established by their families more than their own personal choice. Still, it had given them a good grounding in status and finances that they could build a stable home for their two children they would soon bring into the world. Angelique was the first, taking her place as the apple in even her grandparent’s eyes for almost four years before Alejandro was born.

With little “Alejo” being the first son, there was a lot of excitement within the family and expectations that led his older sister to display some forms of jealousy; the two siblings got along fairly well the older he got. He proved to be more laid back than his older sister. Both were given access to education. In the early years, when Alejo was old enough, they had a tutor who would teach them their general education together. When he was even older, Alejo was shipped off to a private school for his magical education. He would come home and show and teach his sister, who was getting an at-home education on his breaks.

Alejandro attended the private school from the age of 12-17 before he graduated but had little direction in what he wanted to do with himself. He had the option of falling into the family business of exporting potion ingredients unique to their country. Alejo didn’t really have much interest in those things, though. His grades in school had shown that he did have an affinity for potion work, thanks to a good grasp on the importance of quality and even the properties of different components used in the potions. Alejandro didn’t really know what that would spell for him in the real world, but one of his professors did encourage him and even wrote a letter of recommendation that led to him getting seeded in the local hospital as a healer.

From 1871- 1875, Alejandro worked in Spain as a healer, gaining experience in the field as there was plenty for him to do given the political climate. It was just before 1876 that an opportunity arose that his supervisor gave Alejandro a chance at something that would be life-changing. Although he had never left the country before that time, Alejandro was quite fluent in English. His parents had thought it important to teach him young, especially as his mother had cousins who had married English wizards. With that important language skill and his skills, the head of Alejandro’s department gave him the first pick at the opportunity to move to England as a sort of exchange program. He was to travel to the other country for what was really only supposed to be a year. He would practice healing there and learn from the English wizards and show off his own skills (particularly in his potions work) to show that the community in Spain was nothing to scoff at in their own rights. Although it was not something Alejandro had ever predicted for himself to get involved in, he was happy to accept the opportunity and made a move as quickly as possible.

What was only supposed to be a year stretched out much longer in the end. Though it was noted that Alejandro lacked tact with patients and was often described as cold and lacking bedside manner, his work was solid-solid enough that St. Mungos, which he had been transferred to, was willing to give him a more permanent role in their hospital when he showed the desire to stay. Though Spain was his home, there were different methods and more things to learn in England that he simply didn’t have access to back home. Even if he had moved to the hospital in Toledos, it would not have come close to giving him the opportunities and freedoms he felt in England at that time.

Though he had family in the country and had made connections through work, “Alex,” as some of his closest connections had taken to calling him, preferred keeping to himself. Work, his research, and studies were easily his greatest lot in life, even though it hadn’t been his greatest passion at the start of this journey of his. Still, it was impossible to entirely hide from the world. External hands of his friends through work had led him into social circles where he was made to come down from his thoughts and interact with the world. This was how he came to know Katherine Oakridge, a witch who wanted not just her own home but also to feel desired. He was a foreigner still establishing himself in the country perhaps should have been a flag for her. The fact that he spent more time rambling about his work than taking an interest in a conversation about her or even his own life story really should have been another, but his looks and promising future as a healer seemed to place a set of rose-colored glasses over Katherine’s eyes. Through her own pining landing, Alejandro invites to more events, and Alejandro’s friends spelling out Katherine’s clear interest in him, the foreign wizard found himself courting Miss. Oakridge in due time. Alejandro was 27 when he and Katherine were wedded. Her family had never known Katherine to look happier than she did that day, and that joy would last for a few years before the gilding wore off, and Katherine realized that the only person her beloved Alex loved was not her but his work.

To Katherine’s credit, she did give it a good go. She tried to make the best of it with a man who spent long days and nights at the hospital and spent his free time writing journals on his personal progress with his potion work. She kept up appearances, making excuses for her husband when he failed to show on time for dinners (if at all) or plastering a smile on her face as year by year went by, and she was the only lady in her social circle left without a child. She simply didn’t want to be honest that her husband loved his work more than her and that often he made more time for his office than her arms or to even give her a child. Alejandro paid for his neglect when after 8 years of marriage, Katherine gave him an ultimatum. She wanted to know what he loved the most in the world, and like any good husband, the answer was her-- that was the answer before he left to go into the hospital for the day, and after a 12-hour shift, he came home to no wife. The request for a separation came soon after once Katherine was settled with her family once again, and the wedding ring that Alejandro once wore as a comforting reminder that there was someone back home seeing over affairs and waiting to have dinner when he came home at any hour was now an uncomfortable reminder that he kept shackled on his hand as a badge of self repentance.

Over the next few years, Alejandro kept his wedding band on. Though he made no great effort to appeal to his wife's hurt and mend what they had, he still felt the commitment he had made with that ring. He had not expected her family to escalate things by taking matters to court to try and cleanly separate him from Katherine as they possibly could, claiming he had not even bothered to see Katherine or take care of her. Alejandro knew he could have argued it. If he cared in the least bit, he would have done it to save his marriage just as much as his own reputation, but he didn’t see that as any form of love towards his wife. It was kinder for him to give her family the proof that he was neglectful and had no care in his heart, to prove their case to the court. That was better love than he had given Katherine all their years of marriage. Though it took time to process and for Katherine’s family to argue it, Alejandro let them reclaim their daughter while trying to swallow down the blow to his pride he was facing.

The separation was not something Alejandro talked about with anyone. It merely gave him more reason to spend long days in his work, curing people with potions or aiding in the healing of unusual poisoning incidents. As things evolved with the case, Alejandro only threw himself deeper into his work to drown out his heavy conscience. His bedside manner never improved, infact, it got worse with no one in his home to remind him to smile more. Unfortunately, given his career and skill, it became less important for him to show tact when he was skilled in his field. Between the separation and the legal battle that followed the year to come, Alejandro’s reputation took a hit. All the gossip there was to pass around all came from Katherine and her family, a scorned wife who risked stirring up nasty rumors about herself if she wasn’t careful. Alejandro’s saving grace was the fact that he was a decent man in his field and worked so much that there wasn’t room for secrets to grow. Through all the messiness of letting Katherine go and the blow that had done to his name, Alejandro was at least left standing looking like a cold man with the only thing he had ever shown any real care-- a career that he had at least recognized his sacrifice with a promotion.

Personality: Cold and unsociable are often terms used to describe Alejandro. Though he has a good head on his shoulders and could talk your ear off about the different magical properties of various powdered horns, he is not a personal man who grasps the value of socialization. His inability to pick up the reading of the room or the needs of his company have led to people saying he has no heart when in reality he simply sees it more valuable to everyone’s time if he simply doesn’t beat around the bush and keeps things down to the point, even if that does mean his words being painfully blunt.
This does not mean he is all of these things he’s accused of being. Alejandro does very much have a heart and pride, and though he gave both of those to his work, the recent years have shown him that those are not always enough as he does recognize he is alone.

Sample Roleplay Post: "Cecil, they're moving,"

Even though he had been only half-asleep, Cecil gave a groggy grumble as if he was half out of it. He knew what his darling mate wanted-- she had been trying to catch a moment when he was around to introduce them to their new pups. Whoever they were going to be, they were devious little things as they only seemed to kick up when he was away, or like right now when he was just trying to rest as he had been the one to get up last night with their little boy, Kain when he had needed comforting.

Samantha wasn't going to take that sleepy grunt as a no. Her slender fingers moved under his pillow, where his arms were folded under, and wrapped them around his wrist. In all reality, they both knew he had been eager to feel their new children squirming around, but they also both loved the games. The old lycan gave a low rumble as his hand was removed from the warmth, his long, silky hair falling across his face from the disturbance as he cracked open an eye to see his Sam grinning ear to ear as she moved his hand to her swollen belly. She hadn't brushed her long, brown hair yet, and yet it still looked flawless. She radiated with warmth and beauty as the morning sun made her glow.

Cecil pushed himself up onto his elbow once she settled him in the correct spot, and sure enough, he felt that strangely familiar sensation of a little foot being pushed into his hand. A low, throaty growl echoed in his throat, sounding a little more awake as he smiled, curious how many were in there. He and Sam had talked about going to a doctor to see but had decided against it. They were okay with the surprise, and given how big Sam had gotten early on, they were suspected that their second litter would be more than one this time.

"About time you said hi to me, you little buggers."

Sam's face lit up as she laughed, her dimples deepening to hear Cecil mouth off as he was. It was moments like that where she heard that Brit in him come out. She released his hand, letting him feel to his heart's content as she draped her arm over her hips, her nightdress riding up ever so slightly.

Cecil left his hand there, his thumb stroking at the life growing inside her. Maybe it would be a little girl this time-- maybe two. Kain could look after them like a good big brother, and he could get a chance to enjoy having a girl as last time he had not felt like he had been a good father to his daughters. As little feet and fists continued to push at him, his eyes wandered away from his mate's swollen belly to her left hand that was draped. His hand moved to it, his aged but firm hands wrapping around her wrist and lifting it towards his lips. On it was the silvered scar, he had placed on her years ago ever so tenderly, and as he had done every day since then, he pressed his lips to the mate mark. The kiss left Sam melting into her pillows, her brown eyes lighting up with the joy that his presence filled her with. He knew the outside world looked at them strangely-- she seemed so young to the world outside of their pack, and here he was with wisdom lining his expressions. She didn't care what the world thought-- she didn't even care what some of her family thought. This was the man who had taken her heart and had guarded it fiercely.

Cecil's kisses started, so move down her bare arm, leaving her to giggle as she knew where this was going. Sam rolled onto her back as his hands pressed down on either side of her head. Her hands moved over his white T-shirt that clung to his form, his muscles rippling under her touch as his kisses lingered on her neck. They would have gone a lot further had their bedroom door had not opened with a soft thump when the handle bounced against the doorstop, followed by the quiet shuffling of little feet in footed pajamas. He paused his kissing, his nose hovering just inches from Sams as their eyes were flicked over to the edge of their bed as a familiar head of brown hair and bright eyes looked up at them. As much as they loved their son, they had to admit his timing was impeccable in all the wrong ways. As much as Cecil didn't want to have to stop kissing on his wife, he felt no real irritation. Instead, the feeling of love washed over the parents through their personal bond as Kain's little hands grabbed the sheets of the bed, and he pulled himself up onto it while dragging his best friend up there with him-- a ragged stuffed animal that he had had since birth.

"There's my little hunter-- did you want to say hi to the babies too?" Cecil asked Kain as he sat up to place his hand on Sam's belly to help illustrate what he meant.
