Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.
I hope this letter finds you in good health. I must admit that I was rather surprised at this assignment and find myself unsure what to say to a mystery penpal. Especially since we both go to the same school so there is not many things of interest that I could discuss that you are not already likely privy to.
Do you spend a lot of time in the castle or do you tend to venture outdoors? I tend to go outside more often than not. There is a fox that sometimes visits the lawns that knows me and comes to me for treats. So it has become a routine.
I confess I find this assignment rather difficult in practice. How strange to keep from exchanging names when we have been classmates for at least five full terms. While our instructions are not to reveal our names, perhaps we can make discovery a bit of a game.
I find more and more time spent in the library, which I adore, but I love the outdoors. While I prefer more warmth to the climate, these autumn days are beautiful. I miss ready access to stables, of course. I envy you your fox companion! I adore animals. Have you ever seen the open ocean? I remember the first time I saw dolphins, and I will swear there is no better creature.
Have you joined any school clubs? I serve as president of a newer club, but I may come too close to rulebreaking if I divulge which.
