Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Things Female Quidditch Wear
#1
I love the tangents my brain takes. What do women wear on brooms? Do they sit side-saddle on brooms as VE women did on horses? How do brooms work with victorian era skirts? What about female quidditch players? Or would this just be the acceptable time to say screw it and wear 'pants' aka these things that i've always just called pant-skirts. The VE equivalent of a skort. But I also found this palet from 1835 - the yellow one - with a far shorter skirt. I've also seen things that look like skirts but are actually cut down the middle and are pants in disguise like this which I've just learned were cycling outfits.

Is this really important? No, but it is something my brain has been wondering for a while now. Thank you for listening to Nichole rambling.

I headcanon "proper" ladies don't even ride broomsticks but if forced, sit side...broom. Quidditch I would presume wear what the men do because they're athletes and already iffy xD

Yeah in my head there's the a) most ladylike way, which is a specially-side-saddle type of broom that works best with women's skirts and probably goes something like 2 miles an hour lol, then there's b) the cycling-esque/riding habit outfit that offers better mobility for proper female leisure flying, and then there's c) professional athlete getup which I just picture as sort-of-victorianised quidditch robes. I doubt anyone's playing quidditch in a full on gown xD

I always assumed that female quidditch players, wear the male outfit with maybe a skirt to keep dignity.

otherwise i always assumed regular women rode 'side saddle' - like the witches in the worst witch or Samantha at the start of bewitched animation.

Let's not forget that the Quidditch uniform is likely a robe which is kinda like a dress to begin with.

Thom's company should partner with House of Lytton on some fashionable female riding gear for leisure activities ;)

Things like bloomer suits start to become popular in the 1890s for leisure activities, though alternatively I can see female quidditch players wearing jodhpurs for less volume underneath their robes.

Sloane definitely is NOT wearing a dress or riding sidesaddle on a broom.
