January 1st, 1895

The year has begun, and with it, the intoxicating whirlwind of possibilities and fears! I can already feel the gentle hum of excitement that fills the air during the season. The new year is practically a blank canvas, and I’ve decided—quite resolutely—that I will paint it with the brightest of colors.

Mother, as ever, is busy with the arrangements for a grand tea in a fortnight, but her mind also drifts to the family’s future. She is anxious that I should marry this year - and I fear what will happen if I don't secure a match of my own.
I am also mindful of what it means to be a Blackwood—a name that opens doors, but also expects much in return.

But as much as I adore this season of society and sparkle, I find myself dreaming of something else—perhaps something more meaningful than my countless events. I long to find a cause that isn’t just about charity, but about change.

In the meantime, I’ve promised myself to enjoy each evening, to dance freely, to laugh louder, and to make my presence unforgettable. Life is far too short to take too seriously.

Here’s to 1895—may it be even more delightful and adventurous than the year before!
