Lulah is a healer at Hogsmeade Hospital, though often works outside of that, selling potions and other herbal remedies.

Appearance:

Addie is uncharacteristically tall, standing at five foot five. It makes her a little self-conscious, as she's already a bit of social outcast thanks to her life circumstances. At least has a fair complexion and the classic blue eyes, blonde hair combination? It feels irrelevant to her everyday life as she navigates Hogwarts, and probably makes her stand out even more in a way she wished it didn’t. She dresses as best as she can, in softer, muted colors. Addie thinks Hufflepuff yellow looks absolutely awful on her, even if she proudly supports her houes at every turn. She is right-handed for writing and wandwork. Generally she carries herself with her head held high and a determination to be successful, but it's not always easy and she would hate for it to make her appear arrogant or unapproachable.

Ties that Break
The Lawson Household Oberon Lawson is a religious man; loyal to the church. From a prestigious upper class family, Oberon moved his young wife to London for the ~grandeur of the ton. He is a rigid man and father, uninvolved with his children’s upbringing. On the other side, Evanthe Lawson is a warm, caring mother who was as involved as he could be and still meeting her husband’s expectations.

1877
The Third Adelaide joins older siblings Delphine and Aldrich. Little is celebrated about her birth, as she was not another boy, but Evanthe is quietly thrilled to have another daughter.

1879
A Spare Heir Wilder’s birth is a much more joyous occasion and though Addie is too young to recognize the difference, it becomes more and more apparent as they grow.

1883
The Last Daphne is born and her arrival is met with the same enthusiasm as Addie’s. This last pregnancy is rough on Evanthe and though she tries again, the next two pregnancies are met with early miscarriages and the doctor advises not to try anymore.

1885-1888
Education The Lawson children are very much raised in the “children are meant to be seen and not heard” mentality, though they are often not see either. Their studies are strictly of religious and simple mathematical and literary means, though they are afforded French lessons as well. Addie has always secretly questioned these themes in her life, but knows better than to say anything aloud. She has always felt a little more in tune with nature and things of that kind, especially as she often experiences small “miracles” as her mother calls them, that are inexplicable and confusing.

August 1888
Outcast It is with her eleventh birthday that her whole world is turned upside down. Addie’s family is visited by a man from a place called Hogwarts, citing that Addie is actually a witch and that is what these odd happenings that have punctuated her childhood are actually displays of her magic. Horrified, Oberon arranges for Adelaide to be sent away, cast out from the family. It is only the quick thinking of Evanthe that saves Addie from the orphanage through a desperate letter to Oberon’s estranged sister, Tallulah. Lulah immediately agrees to take Addie in and within a week she is uprooted and sent to live in a town called Hogsmeade with an aunt she has never met. In less than three week’s time she is outfitted with robes, a wand and an owl and sent off to the Hogwarts that was described to her by the stranger on her stoop.

First Year
1888-1889 Terrified, feeling abandoned and confused. Addie is sorted into Hufflepuff, whatever that means. It’s hard to feel at home somewhere she was raised to think didn’t exist and was doomed to send her to hell. Her curiosity gets the better of her and she tentatively leans into it, finding this sort of education, among her actual peers, to be quietly thrilling.

The summer after her first year is spent finally getting to know her aunt. Tallulah Lawson is a spinster of modest means with no family or her own. Addie finds her alluring and what she had longed for in a parental figure for the last eleven years. It is a strange sort of mindset to find herself in, but Addie eases into life in Hogsmeade as easily as one can, given the circumstances. It helps that her aunt has a small garden she is allowed to cultivate and play in, that she has children her own age in the neighborhood and that she has more freedom than she ever had in London.

1889-1890
Second Year This year the adjustment to Hogwarts is much easier. Addie finds it comforting now, the familiarity of the castle and grounds. She still feels like she is behind most of her magical classmates, but pushes herself by working hard to do the very best that she can.

1890-1891
Third Year Adding electives seems like an overload, but she decides to try Care of Magical Creatures and Arithmancy as they both seem fascinating. Creatures is harder for her to grasp, but she falls in love with the very existence of magical beasts and is an enthusiastic participant.

1891-1892
Fourth Year The discrepancy between her muggle upbringing and her magical peers is narrowing with each year. This year she feels far more confident in her abilities as a witch, even if it feels like she’s still an imposter sometimes. Summer brings devastating news; her mother dies after a severe case of scarlet fever that also nearly takes her little sister Daphne. The news only reached her because Wilder managed to send a quick letter. Though obviously devastated, as her mother’s annual birthday presents were her only tie to her old life, Addie is more sad for her siblings, as they will have to deal with their father on their own now.

1892-1893
Fifth Year Addie works tirelessly to ensure she does well on her OWLs. She has half a mind to go into healing like her aunt. It seems like a good, stable profession to go into as she won’t be afforded the life of a debutante after Hogwarts. She wasn’t particularly interested, but does wonder what it would have been like to follow that route, like Delphine, who she heard got married in the year after their mother’s death.

1893-1894
Sixth Year Having only kept the classes needed for healing, plus Care of Magical Creatures, Addie plans to buckle down even more and ensure she can carry herself after Hogwarts. Auntie Lulah makes it look easy, but she knows the added income will help them both. She gets no news of her siblings anymore, but thankfully knows at least that WIlder was spared her fate. It’s only Daphne she has to worry about come June. It eats away at the back of her mind even as she pushes deeper into her studies and surviving being a muggleborn outcast at Hogwarts. Only one and half more years to go.

MATURE | GOOD LISTENER | DEDICATED
Addie was forced to grow up quickly and it shows itself in a young woman who tries to do everything she can to prove she is good enough. She has a thirst to prove herself, but not to those around her, to herself. Addie was determined not to let her family’s betrayal make her bitter, but better. Quiet and unassuming, she is quite talented at potions and herbology, thinking about a career like her aunt’s after school. She won’t have the luxury of being a debutante like she once thought, so needs something that will carry her beyond school. Friends will find her loyal and steadfast, a willing ear for venting or troubles with somewhat sage advice for someone who is not overtly outgoing. It takes quite a bit to break down her walls, so her circle is small, but quality. She lacks confidence in a lot of areas outside of her classwork, and can be stubborn more often than not, but works hard and tries to be a good student and friend. For someone with deeply rooted abandonment issues, Addie is oddly confident and carries herself with as much determination as she can, but can be an easy target for taunting, considering her background. She has a complicated relationship with religion, as it is what caused her to be cast aside from her family.
