Paxton Fudge vs. Madeline Bell
#1
10th December, 1892 — The Great Hall, Duelling Tournament
Nothing said holiday cheer like... duelling? Carmelina didn't know either of this pair well enough to guess at who was likely to win it, but she was sure there would be some end-of-term stress on both sides in need of an outlet. She smiled at the pair, skimmed over the rules, and then nodded encouragingly at the young man. "Take it away, Mr. Fudge!"

Paxton Fudge/Clarissa Cosgrove

#2
After observing the pleasantries and unable to help amusement that he was facing off against a Quidditch rival in a different sort of way, Paxton cast his first spell. He decided to start off simple with a disarming spell.

The quick smile she cast at Mr. Fudge was just as benign as the one she offered Professor Cramming; though Maddy was competitive by nature, quidditch was her playing field of choice. Oh, she wanted to win, of course, but her competitive fire did not burn so hotly at such a low altitude.

The Gryffindor, not here to reinvent the wheel, cast a shield charm.

It was a simple enough affair to judge: Mr. Fudge proved the faster, and Miss Bell's wand promptly went flying.

Once she had the time to retrieve it, Carmelina bade her continue.

Annnnnd there went her wand.

Maddy scurried after it, cheeks flushing with embarrassment. Perhaps she cared more about doing well at dueling than she had thought.

Once she had righted herself, the Gryffindor cast a bat bogey hex against her opponent.

For his turn, Paxton went with the jelly brain jinx.

Miss Bell evidently had an eye for creativity – or vengeance. One or the other, because this spell succeeded nicely where her last had not. Carmelina watched the results with an empathetic grimace for Mr. Fudge's sake.

Once the air was clear of flying snot, Carmelina declared, "Miss Bell evens the score. Mr. Fudge, our tiebreaker, if you will."

For his final spell of the duel, Paxton decided to go with the Full Body Bind. "Petrificus Totalus."

Miss Bell's spell hit Mr. Fudge solidly, promptly made him unbalance, and his spell shot in entirely the wrong direction – indeed, it hit Carmelina, of all people. She keeled over in a (rather well cast) fully body bind, and had to be hastily revived by a spectating member of staff.

Rather embarrassed by these proceedings, Carmelina hauled herself to her feet again and pronounced Miss Bell the winner of the duel.
