"Me too," Fallon sighed as she dropped her mug onto the nearby table. Malou might be cross for her lack of coaster, but Fallon had earned a bit of forgiveness shs thought. Surviving through hell made things like coasters seem ridiculous. Then, without any ceremony, she leaned down and rested her head on Malou's knee as if they were girls again and not grown women. "Me too," she murmured again. "I don't enjoy being angry with him."

  

For a moment it was almost as if they were at school again, sitting in a quiet common room just chatting, Fallon’s head on her needs and Malou nestled into a corner of the couch. A soft smile crossed her lips at the memory as she put a hand on Fallon’s head.

“I should think not.” Malou said gently. “I doubt he likes being angry with you either.” She added thinking of the reply he had written to her. Hopefully this time it would be clear sailing for Fallon and Mr. Hatchitt.

Malou seemed to have a far better grasp of the situation than Fallon thought she might, but she left it alone. Her best friend was always very quietly perceptive, perhaps Jesse had let something slip in her week disappearance. Perhaps Malou had reasons of her own to like her blue eyed crush.

She gave an affirmative mmm and let the silence take hold in the room once more. There were still too many things to process for Fallon to be able to divulge more, but at least for the time being she felt a smidgen better.
