Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Dear Zach,
Your mother talked to Hugo. As you can imagine, he wasn't very happy with me when he got home. I imagine he figured I was the missing link, given he hadn't spoken to anyone else on the topic. But I don't blame you!

That is not even why I am writing this letter. I am writing this letter because, should anything happen to me, I need you to keep an eye on my children. And I need you to know that, I'm in love with you

Rosie

She could here Hugo yelling outside of the door to their bedroom. She had a good lock charm on the door itself, but Merlin knew how long that would last. In all honesty, Rosie had never truly seen Hugo this angry. Goodness, there seemed to be a hint of hurt in his eyes. Had he felt betrayed, in some way? That didn't seem to matter now, as she wrote quickly.

Not even leaving a period at the end of her note as she heard another slam of Hugo's fist on the door. Was anything actually dire to happen to her? She didn't know, but she knew she at least needed to leave for a while. She send word to her mother that she had left to further solidify connections with a rich family on Hugo's behalf, or some other such nonsense that sounded believable enough. Giving her letter to her owl, which flew off quickly, she decided that her best option was to apparate, and hope that Hugo stuck with the story to her mother, for both of their sakes.

This letter wasn't received until he returned from his trip. His mail was sorted through the following day. He has made a magical copy of both Rosie's original letter and his own reply, just in case.

Rosie,

I am sorry speaking to Mother has caused some turmoil. That wasn't my intention. It's not all that odd for him to throw some sort of fit. Once he gets it out of his system, he should be back to the same old Hugo and become capable of truly processing Mother's words .

If something should happen to you? I am unsure of your meaning. If you think my brother would do something rash, I do hope you take the children and retreat to one of our parents' houses. I know he has a temper, but he has never proven to be violent.

Of course, I would watch over your children. I already do so. They are very dear to me.

I am also unsure the meaning of your closing remark. I care for you as only a brother can. I do hope you realize that, Rosie.

Dear Zach,
Oh, do please forget I wrote you. It was a misunderstanding. We're all fine.

As for the closing remark, of course I meant that as any sibling would. I was upset, and wanted to let you know that despite my tension with Hugo, that I still cared for you and our family. Please think nothing more of that.

Rosie

Of course, it was a lie. But how could she possibly admit otherwise?
