Ministry Takes Over Dig Site

Muggles Uncover magical artifacts; promptly die

Did you hear an explosion yesterday, or witness the plume of turquoise smoke it brought with it? The archeological dig led by muggle Elliot Waft has turned up something the participants did not expect: Pictish relics and a swift death.

Waft was one of four muggles killed in the explosion when they uncovered no fewer than a dozen artifacts believed to have belonged to a Pictish shaman; the surviving nine men and one woman were all seriously injured and are presently being treated at St Mungo's in London, pending their recovery. A group obliviation is reportedly scheduled for next week.

With this discovery, the Ministry has swiftly secured the dig site. Aurors have been placed on duty to guard the site as the Research Committee, Department of Mysteries, and a representative from the Museum of Magical Miscellany work together to stabilize and investigate the objects found. A spokeswizard fro the Ministry of Magic has declared it imperative that curious minds stay away, for their own safety.

Hospital Director Marries

B. Keene Weds Amnesiac Widow

Mr. Baxter Keene, 39, director of Hogsmeade Hospital reportedly wed Mrs. Odira Potter, 24, of Bartonburg in an intimate ceremony at the Bartonburg home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Browne, yesterday.

Though the two had oft been seen in company with one another, this reporter's sources cannot seem to make up their minds as to whether or not this came as a surprise, as no formal announcement was ever made. One source claims the pair had been engaged for some six months, while another declares the union a spontaneous elopement.

Regardless, many a mother in Hogsmeade will surely be in mourning to have so eligible a bachelor as Mr. Keene off the market. His new wife, some readers may recall, was the widow of the late Mr. Bennet Potter, but before that was the kidnapping victim of the dastardly Jasper Bryce.

Only family and close friends of the couple were present for their nuptials. The paper cannot definitively say that the new Mrs. Keene's former sister-in-law, the vampire Charlotte Potter, wasn't in attendance.
