I hope you’re enjoying your summer. Ours has proven busy thus far, what with Charity’s last few weeks before Hogwarts and the baby due very soon; but I am writing this time on behalf of Miss Louisa Clearwater, who, as you might well know, has been employed as Charity’s governess since January 1890.

For propriety’s sake, I have attached a formal reference for her to this owl – and do believe she is a most suitable candidate for school matron entirely upon her own merit – but, more candidly, I can add that she has proven invaluable to my household these past two years. You know Charity, after all; that is not to say she is a difficult child, but given her somewhat fraught circumstances upon reaching our care, her unique disposition and peculiar set of interests, it is not every governess who could have made such a deep impression on her. Miss Clearwater has instructed her and gained her respect and affection in equal measure, and indeed, has almost the patience of a saint.

We will be sorry to say goodbye to her – but if Charity has both you and Miss Clearwater supervising her through her time at Hogwarts, I shall not be worried about her being well looked after in the least.

And you must stop by when the baby is born, if it is before all the chaos of the school year.
