Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Some part of Guinevere, deep down, knew how irrational she was being. That this necklace was nothing more than a pretty curse. But something inside her told her that she needed it. That it was supposed to be with her. That she couldn't be without it. All she could do was shake her head. Obviously standing wasn't going to get her anywhere.

The woman was not lurching forwards to physically attack her again at the moment, but she also didn’t seem to be comprehending that in order to get better she needed to be without the necklace. Strange curses, these. Even not physically in contact with it, and it still had a hold on her.

Hm. Rommy had an idea. Just before, she had said the necklace was in safe keeping, but now she cleared her throat in order to sound as confident as she possibly could. “The truth is, Mrs. Lukeson,” Rosamund said, “the pendant you came in with has already been destroyed.”

In Guinevere's defense, she had never attacked the healer. Just fell on her. But that wasn't really the point, was it? Even so, her actions were certainly not rational. And thus she stared at the healer for a few moments as she processed the other woman's words. Something seemed to change in her eyes as she took a good look around the room. "Oh." She mumbled.

Perhaps, Rosamund thought, as she felt the woman’s hesitation and tentative change of demeanour - perhaps it was never worth undervaluing the psychological component of the connection after all. If her patient believed the necklace to no longer exist, would it still exert the same pull on her? Would it be able to drain the life from her again if it was nowhere near her and she had no reason to go looking for it?

It seemed, she thought, at the very least like a start to her recovery. “There now, Mrs. Lukeson,” Rommy offered kindly, “if you’ll make yourself comfortable again, I’ll change your bandages for you.” There. As calming as could be.
