Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ

Tomorrow she would be competing herself but today Connie was glad to be overseeing the student duels and as she watched them take their positions she had to stifle fond smiles at how grown up they looked outside of the castle walls. Here she could envision what they would become, how they would forge their ways in the world - assuming them didn't make an utter hash of their spellwork of course.
Elijah Urquart was not someone she knew well. She knew of him, he was a year above her and was a Chaser for Slytherin. Other than that, she knew nothing. They simply did not move in similar social circles. She didn't really know his skill level, she didn't pay attention to him in class but that was her own fault she supposed. Just meant she couldn't underestimate him.
"Tarantallegra!" the third year cast, settling on attempting to make him dance. Err shield charms. Let's see....
Feeling, frankly, far more smug than he had any reason to be, Elijah almost lazily cast a shield charm. After all, what thread could a Hufflepuff girl possibly be?

Connie had to admit that the insolence on the young man's face was not utterly undeserved as Miss Potts' charm bounced off a shield so well cast it practically did a little victory dance afterwards.
"Very well done Mr Urquart," she said in a blatant display of favouritism that Connie tried to negate by offering the young woman a small smile before returning her attention to the boy. "Please begin the next round."
Practically preening at his success (though, of course, Elijah was not surprised), the Slytherin cast a spell to make the Hufflepuff's teeth grow exponentially.

She frowned as he pointed his wand at her. Wait... she did know him. He was the brat who tried to set set her on fire her first year! What was it that fate had against her that he was her opponent now?! She could feel the anger rising and she lashed out with a silencing spell, hoping to silence him before his spell was said.
Miss Potts was a fraction too slow to cast and though Mr Urquart did indeed lose his voice - or at least he appeared to be shouting something indigently that no one could hear - he had already managed to send his spell and the young woman's teeth were rapidly growing past her chin.
Connie ended both spells with a few waves of her wand.
"Mr Urquart takes the duel," she announced. "Five points to Slytherin."
