Appearance: A petite 4 feet and 10 inches tall, Lyddie is smaller than her sister, Dolores. While Dolores is plainer in appearance, Lydia's dark hair is naturally wavy, looking like it has just been let down from a braid around her face. She likes to leave it down loose in curls around her cheeks, but she understands the importance of having it pulled back when she's deep in thought. Grey eyes gleam with good nature and a slight bit of mischief.
History:
1871- Lydia is born in an easy birth. Laurel is pleased that she had another daughter and named her Lydia. Her older sister likes to read to the young infant, and from a young age, Lydia learns that books can be her friend, as well as a tool for learning.
1873- Lydia's only brother, who was two years older than her, dies due to a fever. Lyddie barely remembers him, and unlike Dolores, who can be moved to tears by the sight of his things, she merely feels a bit of sadness that she didn't get to know him better.
1877- Six year old Lydia is suddenly uprooted from her home when the muggles discover magic is afoot. They flee to Hogsmeade and settle into North Bartonburg. She soon forgets much about where they'd lived previously when they had to hide their magic and couldn't go about doing what they wanted to do with their wands at the ready.
1880- Now that she's nine years old, Lydia shows her first sign of magic, making their regular broomstick used to sweep the floor levitate-- with her on it. Though she knew she'd never be quick-witted enough to play Quidditch, she does enjoy watching it and was pretending to ride the broomstick around the backyard with her friends. Everyone knew she was on a regular broom so when it levitated, everyone applauded.
1882- Lydia gets her Hogwarts letter and like her older sister, gets Sorted into Gryffindor. Most people expected her to be in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, as she was never particularly forceful with her personality like some Gryffindors can be. But as she settled into her home for the next seven years, Lyddie shows that she can be braver than some and that the Sorting Hat was right to have put her where she is.
1884- One of Lydia's friends lost a family member in the Laughing Plague and as devastated as her friend was, some of the grief rolled over into Lyddie's life. She finally understood how her sister could grieve over their brother's death even though he'd been so young and they'd had so few years together. It struck a chord in her and it made her want to help people. If she never gets married, Lydia decided that she would be a healer's assistant or something of the sort. Even though it's not very acceptable for her to do so.
1888- Lydia returns home for the summer and is dismayed by the fog that covers their home. It prevents her from spending time with her friends and though she gets to read to her heart's content, the books they had in the home were quickly devoured. Once the fog dissipated she was able to return to Hogwarts for her final year. She's looking forward to graduating, but not leaving her friends behind. At least, when she returns to North Bartonburg at the end of the year, she'll be able to spend more time with Dolly. And maybe convince her family that she should be allowed to do something besides just getting married.
