Ulysses had not been able to get in contact with the woman who possessed his heart since his return so many months ago. He had no idea where she lived now as the residence that she'd had when he had left had claimed to no longer be home to her or her family. He had no way of knowing if that was true or not. Had she married after all? He had not heard anything about it though. He also had actually not had a lot of time to delve deeper as there were other things he was dealing with too. Such as finding out his mother had passed away while he had been gone. His father was a shell of a man who did not seem to wholly believe that Ulysses had really returned yet.
"I'm sorry I was gone for so long, mother," he murmured as he placed fresh flowers onto his mothers grave. His fingers traced the outline of her name that was etched into her tombstone.
