Gus,

Happy Birthday, old friend! I hope you don't mind but I've gone ahead and fixed up the scarf that ripped in class. This time I've enchanted it with a bit of a protection spell to prevent further damage.

Really, Gus, if you don't get that wand fixed I'm going to drag you to Ollivanders myself. It's not safe you know! Any number of incidents could occur, especially with all your antics and galavanting around the world and--

Just... fix it, for me, please? It will make the holiday that much more bearable.

Let's get together whenever you're free and we can have lunch to celebrate.

Anyhow, I hope you have an excellent day with lots of celebration. Give Figueroa and Seamus a sensible kiss from me and Edmund a good kick in the pants. (He deserves it, I'm certain.)

respectfully,
Basil Foxwood

[Attached in a parcel is a handful of sweets, a book on Nordic curses, and the same Hufflepuff scarf Basil gifted Gus some time last year with the same stitching of the raven in the corner, this time mended. If one bothered to look too closely at the raven, they might notice an alteration to its form. Its feathers have been greyed and the eye shines a poignant blue. Strangely enough, it seems to resemble a jackdaw now, more than a raven...]

Basil,

Thanks for fixing my scarf, and I happy to say it looks as good as new! I promise I won't turn it to stone anytime soon. I'm afraid it's getting a little too warm to wear it around, but once the school year starts up again, it will be a standard part of my outfit.

As for the wand... I'm afraid Fig has forced it upon me. I shall be watching Seamus for a few days this summer while they are off on an adventure. She explained it to me, but I can't say I was paying too much attention, only because she and Edmund are going somewhere somewhat dangerous, and I was told no tombs, no caves, no Egypt. No fun. You are right, he does deserve a kick in the pants for going along with his wife's stupid rules.

Apparently their governess quit, although Fig won't tell me why.

Perhaps you would like to assist me in keeping him entertained? Surely you know how to keep a four year old entertained a bit more than myself. You can teach him how to play croquet, and I will teach him archery.

Until then, I will be keeping myself busy with the book you sent. Thank you, again.

Sincerely,
Gus
