He hasn’t really done anything wrong, but no one who profits so much from regular disasters should be this cheerful about it. He’s also knocking on the door of Confirmed Bachelor.

Brother. Fianto Lochrin (b. 1855)
Sister. Isla – nee Lochrin (b. 1863)
Sister. Fidelia Lochrin (b. 1867)
Appearance:
Tall and lanky, Protego stands at five feet, eleven inches. He has thick brown hair and blue eyes. He mostly wears muggle clothes unless it’s otherwise called for. He is right handed.
History:
1855. Protego is born the second child and son of Patronus and Anne Lochrin. He is followed shortly after by Fianto. Protego is a pretty cheerful baby, a trait that follows him through childhood.

1859. Protego displays his first sign of magic by turning a weed in the garden into a flower. This pleases him greatly, though he's less pleased when he can't make it happen on command all the time.

1863. Isla is born, and Protego is rather put out by the fact that she gets a normal name.

1866. Protego (and Fianto) leave for Hogwarts. Protego finds himself easily sorted into Slytherin. He may have thought about trying to sell thread to the Sorting Hat. He wasn’t serious--how would such a thing even work?--but apparently the Sorting Hat’s sentience does not extend to having a sense of humor.

While a pretty average student overall, Protego’s real skill during his school years is making friends.

1867. Fidelia is born, and Protego is somewhat mollified by the fact that she gets a weird name, too.

1868. Listen. Is there a rule against setting up a contraband business at Hogwarts? Well. Probably. But as Protego is never officially caught, and no one (as far as he knows) is harmed by it, he’s pretty sure it doesn’t count.

1873. Protego (and Fianto) graduate from Hogwarts, and Protego goes to work for the family shop. Being a salesman is basically his natural element, so this is the happiest Protego could be, post-graduation.

1875-1876. Protego’s father retires and leaves his elder brother in charge, which Protego thinks is just fine–until the following year when Patronus hires a manager, like Protego isn’t right there!

1877. Marvelous year. No notes.

1880. Protego moves to Hogsmeade with the intention of expending the family business. It just makes sense with so many people living in the village these days.

1884. On the one hand, this year is very good business. Nothing makes people seek out protective charms and items like a few disasters. On the other hand, Protego’s shop burns down and he spends the rest of the quarantine in Isla and her husband’s guest room, and while he loves his family, the only thing worse than a plague is a Protego with nothing to do with himself for weeks on end.

When the quarantine lifts, Protego returns to London to regroup, but it turns out that it takes a lot of time and money to set up a second shop again, so he’s stuck working for his brother for a while longer.

1885. Protego will have you know that he had absolutely nothing to do with the scandal that befell the shop manager and forced him to resign. How dare you even suggest such a thing! Shame Patronus couldn’t find anyone else to fill the position and had to settle for letting Protego do it. Terrible shame, really.

1888. The new shop in Hogsmeade is, in a literal sense, a very clear accomplishment that Protego is very proud to finally have. It is also probably the reason none of the Lochrins have committed fratricide yet. Protego would argue he is helpful, not annoying, but also it’s probably safer for him in Scotland.

1894. Business is booming, and Protego is very happy. It’s maybe occurred to him at some point that it might be time to get married, but he is effectively married to his job. No, he doesn’t think this is weird, why?
Personality:
AGGRESSIVELY CHEERFUL. AMBITIOUS. STUBBORN. EASY-GOING. OPTIMISTIC.

The consummate salesman.
